Key Responsibilities:
Development

  • Design, develop, and test Kubernetes operators and custom controllers

  • Automate infrastructure tasks using bash scripting, Go, cloud-init, and tools like Packer
  • Work with scripts and infrastructure as software for provisioning Kubernetes clusters in the cloud, with virtual machines and bare metal
    The ideal candidate would have:
  • Experience with Go
  • Good understanding of Kubernetes, including building custom operators
  • Knowledge of Linux, bash and system-level programming
  • Familiarity with networking concepts
  • Experience designing and maintaining distributed systems
    Bonus:
  • Experience with CI/CD using GitHub Actions
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (Preferred Hetzner, but AWS, Azure and GCP are also valuable)

Hands-on experience and proven record working on multiple frameworks (that includes Playwright, Selenium, ReadyAPI, Cypress).
Proficiency with Azure DevOps, creating and maintaining automation pipelines and releases.
Experienced in performing test automation code reviews, identifying targets for automation, and recommending automation best practices.
Experienced with automating UI, APIs, web services and back-end processes.
Solid understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes, especially in relation to automation testing.
Sound understanding of Agile Scrum principles.
Proven experience working with cross-functional teams globally is preferred.

About the Role:
As we build the foundation for SRE at Aktos, you will play a critical role in shaping our infrastructure and operational excellence in addition to being a full backend software engineer. Leveraging battle-tested technologies such as Kubernetes, Postgres, and AWS, you will go beyond managing infrastructure to build tools that enable our engineers to create performant, scalable, and resilient applications.
However, since we are a small team, we will expect you to be a fully functioning backend software engineer as well. You will be 30% SRE/DevOps and 70% Backend (you need to be able to do backend feature work and integrations).
Responsibilities
Conduct performance testing and database health & tuning.
Maintain and enhance our Kubernetes clusters.
Improve monitoring systems and update alerts.
Automate deployments and developer environments.
Explore and implement CI/CD options.
Maintain developer environments and CI pipelines.
Provide on-call support to ensure system reliability and performance.
Perform backend feature work and integrations using Python/Django

Requirements
