    Remote Syslog Server Setup and AWS Integration Specialist
    Description:
    We are seeking a skilled professional to lead the setup of a remote syslog server infrastructure, facilitating the collection of logs from a multitude (200+) of modems (sierra wireless rv55). The primary objective is to forward these logs to AWS for subsequent processing using an AWS Lambda Node.js script. This process aims to extract vital insights into the current conditions of the modems, which will subsequently be integrated into our modem management portal/database.
    Responsibilities:
  • Configure and establish a remote syslog server to efficiently gather logs from a wide array of modems.
  • Collaborate with the modem team to guide the configuration of modems for seamless forwarding of logs to the central syslog server.
  • Implement an efficient log forwarding mechanism to transmit the captured logs to AWS for further processing.
  • Collaborate closely with the Node.js script developer (potentially a separate role) to ensure smooth data extraction from the logs.
  • Facilitate the integration of log insights, obtained through the Node.js script, into our modem management system (which could be handled by a different individual).
    Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up and configuring servers within the AWS environment.
  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining syslog systems, ideally in a large-scale context.
  • Proven expertise in devising and executing strategies for efficient log collection and forwarding from remote devices.
  • Familiarity with modem log formats and the ability to extract actionable insights from raw log data.
    Note:
    Please provide details of your experience in AWS server setup and syslog systems, along with any relevant examples of similar projects you’ve successfully managed.
