Join us as a DevRel Engineer at Otterize!
Join Otterize, a company shaking up Kubernetes authorization with our Workload
Identity and Access Management platform! We’re on a mission to simplify and
streamline the authorization process, making it as easy as pushing code to Git.
Imagine a world where deploying a service is a breeze—no more coordinating with
various teams or managing complex authorization setups. Otterize introduces
declarative IAM, empowering workloads to specify access requirements in plain
language. Our automated system then translates these declarations into tailored
policies, seamlessly integrating with Otterize’s open-source components.
For instance, in AWS IAM, forget about juggling roles and policies outside of
Kubernetes. With Otterize, you label pods, request a matching AWS Role, and define
IAM access through a Kubernetes resource. Voilà! Your pod can now effortlessly access
AWS resources. We call this approach IBAC (Intent-Based Access Control), where
workloads declare their intentions, and Otterize translates them into precise access
controls based on organizational preferences.
But that’s not all—Otterize is the bridge between security, platform, and developer
teams. Need to meet PCI DSS requirements or implement least-privilege, just-in-time,
or zero-trust access? No problem! Otterize automates it all, drastically reducing the
burden on developers and empowering dev teams to progress independently.
And guess what? We’ve raised a cool $11.5 million in seed funding led by the likes of
Index Ventures, Dig Ventures, Vine Ventures, Jibe Ventures, Crew Capital, and
Operator Partners! Be part of a small, yet nimble team making waves in the realm of
Workload IAM—let’s Otterize the future together.
What’s the gig?
As a DevRel Engineer with Otterize, you’ll be right in the thick of things. We’re talking
about building relationships with the developer community, diving deep into tech with
product and engineering teams, and creating technical content that turns heads.
Crafting technical blog posts, articles, documentation, and developing step-by-step
tutorials should be like second nature to you—plus, effortlessly interacting with the
community on platforms such as Reddit and Stack Overflow.
Responsibilities:
● Create technical content at a regular cadence, including blogs, articles, webinars,
step-by-step tutorials, and documentation, to educate and engage the developer
community.
● Build and maintain strong relationships with developers and developer
communities. This includes regular engagement in Slack communities (Otterize
Slack, Platform Engineering Slack, Kubernetes Slack, etc.), discussions on
GitHub issues (in open source projects related to Otterize), and Kubernetes
Special Interest Group discussions.
● Collaborate with product and engineering teams to understand and communicate
technical details effectively.
● Gather feedback from the community and communicate it to the internal teams
for product improvement.
● Participate in various forums and channels, such as Reddit (and forums of
individual projects like Kafka), Stack Overflow, Discord, and Hacker News to
enhance visibility and community engagement.
● Identify and prioritize areas for product improvement based on community
feedback and needs.
● Act as a bridge between the company and the developer community, promoting
Otterize’s technology and fostering strong relationships.
Requirements:
● Strong technical background with a deep understanding of cloud-native
technology and Kubernetes specifically.
● Excellent writing skills with the ability to create clear, detailed, and engaging
technical content.
● Effective networking and communication skills to build and maintain relationships
with developers and communities.
● Project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously
and prioritizing tasks efficiently.
● Creativity and originality in approaching developer audiences, thinking outside
the box for community engagement.
● Familiarity with languages commonly used in the industry.
Bonus:
● Got your own technical blog? Sweet! We love enthusiasts who share their
insights with the world.
● Ever been the voice behind a podcast? We’re all ears—podcasting experience is
a definite plus.
● Have a track record of producing engaging webinars for the developer
community? Send us the links to watch!
● Have you successfully grown and nurtured a community on your personal social
channels? Don’t be shy, drop those handles.
● Have you graced meetups or conferences with your insights? Tell us about it!
These bonus attributes aren’t mandatory, but they sure add an extra layer of awesome
to your profile. If you tick any of these boxes, let us know—we’re all about recognizing
and celebrating your unique talents!
If you’re passionate about security in platform engineering, possess excellent technical
and communication skills, and thrive in a fast-moving environment, Otterize welcomes
you to apply to our DevRel Engineer position. You’ll play a key role in shaping the
developer community’s perception of our workload IAM platform.
Apply now by sending your resume and any applicable links to join@otterize.com
